The FixCom System network is an advanced communication system designed specifically for underground environments, offering reliable and efficient connectivity for various applications.
This system is composed of multiple WireNodes, each acting as a crucial component in creating a robust and versatile communication network. The network can be easily scaled by adding or removing WireNodes as needed, providing flexibility for various project sizes and requirements. The ability to integrate with a PC for network management offers additional versatility, especially in areas where intrinsically safe devices are not mandatory.
Unlike traditional systems such as the leaky feeder, the FixCom network does not require any existing infrastructure, specialized cables, or signal amplifiers. This significantly reduces the initial setup cost, making it an affordable solution for creating a basic communication network. The installation process is straightforward and quick, allowing for rapid deployment and scalability. The system can be seamlessly integrated with the SWAR-2EX, enhancing its functionality. For instance, if a mine is drilling a new tunnel, BatNodes can extend the existing network to the new area without additional infrastructure.
The FixCom system also excels in durability, with its rugged design capable of withstanding harsh underground conditions. The device’s housing provides a high level of protection, ensuring reliable performance. Furthermore, unlike leaky feeder systems, the FixCom network requires minimal maintenance, offering a cost-effective and efficient communication solution for underground operations.
The system consists of the following elements:
- WireNode — Wired (fixed) transceiver module providing continuous communication, as well as location of machinery and personnel
- mPhone — Specialized digital radiotelephone
- WireRepeater (optional) — Wired (fixed) transceiver for signal reconstruction of a digital radio network
- gPhone (optional) — A stationary telephone connected to the power supply (12V – 15V), can be fitted in the vehicle. Equipped with a loudspeaker.
Additional equipment needed to run a wired network:
- Power supply* — A single power supply, meeting specified parameters, is capable of supporting a network section with up to 20 WireNodes. The power supply must conform to the parameters indicated on the equipment nameplates. The required current capacity of the power supply depends on factors such as the length of the line, the number of devices, and the wire cross-section used. We recommend using a 15V (DC), and at least 3A power supply.
- Cable* — We recommend using a twisted, four-wire cable without shielding. Two wires should be dedicated to the power supply and the other two for data transmission. The power wires should have a core cross-section of 2 to 2.5 mm² (AWG 14 – 13). The transmission wires should have a minimum cross-section of 0.5 mm² (AWG 20). It is acceptable to use a cable with four wires of the same cross-section within these parameters, such as a 4 x 2 mm² (AWG 14) cable. The outer diameter of the cable should be between 9 mm (AWG 8) and 17 mm (AWG 5).
